The weather in Georgia is warm and pleasant all year, so you can visit any time without having to worry about being too hot or cold. Temperatures in the summer range from 80-95 degrees and temperatures in the winter rarely dip below 45 degrees. Most of the time, travelers will be fine packing only shorts and t-shirts with a light wrap for evening.

Getting to Georgia is breeze. Visitors can easily find a flight into the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the busiest in the world, or they can land nearer to the coast at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. Driving to Georgia is just as simple with four interstate highways, I-85, I-75, I-20 and I-95, that connect the state to the rest of the nation.

Vacation Activities

Visitors to Georgia will never find themselves lacking something to do, but newcomers may consider visiting the following popular destinations:

  • Historic Sites: Georgia contains many places you can visit to experience a part of history. The state is home to several civil war battle sites such as the Chickamauga National Battlefield and the Dug Gap Battle Park. Native American history abounds in places like the Etowah Indian mounds and U.S. history buffs will enjoy a trip to Plains, the hometown of former President Jimmy Carter.
  • Festivals: Several large festivals are held in Georgia each year. For lighthearted entertainment, consider driving to East Dublin to witness the Redneck Games that take place every July. Springtime visitors who go to Macon will find themselves enchanted by the beauty of the Macon Cherry Blossom Festival. Those who visit a little later in the year should be sure to check out the Georgia National Fair in Perry.
  • Natural Attractions: Georgia is home to several sites of natural beauty that no one should pass up the chance to see. The Atlanta Botanical Gardens offer 30 acres of stunning floral displays year-round and has many special exhibits that contain rare plants. Those who wish to venture outside of an urban environment can take a trip to any one of Georgia's many parks, including the incredible Toccoa Falls and the Chattahoochee National Forest.
